Outfit Ideas
↓ 30 – Go Monochrome
One of my favorite looks to go for when I can’t think of what to wear is to mix up neutrals to create a monochrome outfit like an all-grey one or an all-brown one while playing with different shades.
It’s a classic look, and the use of different shades helps create so much interest, which is probably why I end up buying neutral outfits every time I go shopping.
My point has been proven beautiful here by the inspirational 60+ influencer, journalist, mother, and entrepreneur – Gail Rolfe.
SHOP THE LOOK:
Metallic Grey Sneakers $ 50.46
↓ 29 – Buy Something Bold & Colorful
If you’re buying some new outfits this season, I recommend buying at least one item that is bold and colorful.
I’m sure you’ll notice that it will have a huge impact on your life, bringing in lots of positivity and good vibes.
It doesn’t have to be any particular shade; it can be red, blue, green, yellow, any color that your heart falls for.
SHOP THE LOOK:

If you’re not sure about this, you can always start with something small, like perhaps an orange handbag.

↓ 28 – Add More Floral Prints To Your Wardrobe
I find that floral prints can make a big difference in not just your outfits but also your mood.
They’re the best thing for me to wear during day time, and they can brighten any day with their floral charm, especially in the Spring and Summer season.

↓ 27 – Shoes & Bags Can Make A Big Difference
While this may sound like a very simple thing, it is often overlooked by us. Even the most ordinary outfit can be spiced up if you pair them with nice shoes and a good-looking handbag or clutch. Another question that we often get is regarding the right size of a handbag. Honestly, there are no rules here, so go with what you’re comfortable with or what you need to carry, but here are some tips that might be helpful:
- For instance, if you’re going to attend a party and you’ll only be having your mobile in your bag, then go for a clutch instead as it looks classier.
- On the other hand, if you’re traveling or you’re on a work meeting, you might need to carry a lot of stuff in your bag like your makeup, passport, wallet, files, sunglasses, etc., so in such a scenario, you can opt for a bigger handbag.
- My personal opinion is that you shouldn’t invest in any new oversized handbags anymore unless you really need one.
That’s because such bags aren’t really in fashion anymore, so try opting for medium-sized ones instead that are more practical, like a crossbody, envelope purse, or a baguette bag.
- I also recommend that all of us should have at least 2 to 3 good quality, eco-friendly tote bags that we should carry with us whenever we go shopping because, well, saving the planet should always be a priority.
However, brownie points if you can get your hands on a cute printed one that represents your personality.
- And talking about eco-friendly bags, I also recommend giving the trendy bamboo bags a try. They’re not just biodegradable but also look incredibly stylish, which is what allowed them to become the biggest handbag trend of the year.
They’re also lightweight, so easy to carry around for both casual and semi-formal wear.

↓ 26 – Add Some Animal Prints
You’ve probably worn animal prints at some point in your life, and you don’t need to stop now. Subtle animal prints look great at our age, particularly when mixed and matched with other solid colors.
If you’re new to these prints, then start with small things like a leopard print handbag or a zebra printed scarf, and then move to the main items like shirts or skirts.

↓ 25 – Comfort Comes First
This is one of the most important rules to remember whenever you go shopping. And it applies to not just your outfits but, more importantly, to your shoes.
Don’t fall for an item just because it looks good but isn’t comfortable. Because no, you won’t be loving it so much when you spend the whole day waiting to take it off.
And there’s no point in wearing those sexy heels if they end up killing your feet. Here are some of my favorite brands to shop for comfortable shoes:
- Lace-free sneakers by Skechers for walking, running, and other outdoor activities. They’re also a great option for the gym.check out these ; 12 Best Workout Outfits for Older Women
- Loafers from Hush Puppies for semi-formal wear. They look great with work outfits in general.
- Clarks sandals for traveling as well as casual wear. Their Ortholite™ shoes and slip-ons, in particular, are awesome if you have pain in your feet too often.
- Finn Comfort’s therapeutic shoes are designed especially for diabetic ladies to promote healthy foot care.
↓ 24 – Don’t Stop Having Fun
This applies to not just life but your outfits too. Being in a certain age group should never stop you from wearing your favorite colors or experimenting with new trends.
↓ 23 – For Plus Size Women: Choose Loose Tops Over Tight Ones
How to dress for over 60 and overweight: Since many of our readers wanted a way to look slim in their sixties, one of the easiest ways is to opt for shirts that are not too tight around your waist.
This is one of the oldest tricks to hide tummy fat, and it works pretty well.
↓ 22 – Belt It Up
If loose outfits make you feel out of place, then give them a shape with belts. Belts can be a great way to emphasize the slimmer parts of your body while covering up the curvier ones.
↓ 21 – Go For Vertical Stripes Instead Of Horizontal
Another helpful tip for those who’re looking for a slimming effect, choose vertical stripes. They look great and also balance out your silhouette.
↓ 20 – Choose Statement Sleeves
Some of us don’t have much problem with belly fat, but instead, our fat tends to stick around our arms which makes us look unnecessarily bulky.
If that’s the case with you too, I highly recommend wearing statement sleeves like Bishop or puffed ones.
They’re not just in fashion these days, but they also look good at our age, and of course, they help us look slimmer. Moreover, they can turn the simplest outfits into statement-making ones.
↓ 19 – Invest In Quality Over Quantity
Once you’re in your 60s, the most important thing is to stop focusing on quantity and instead focus on quality.
Buy 1 outfit in a season instead of 4 but make sure that you’re buying good quality material.
And this isn’t just about the outfits; you also need to invest in having some quality time yourself – go for a bike ride or a yoga class, or buy some new paints and get the creative juices flowing.
↓ 18 – Pair Your Casual Outfits With Jeggings
If you feel like leggings are too old school, try to go for jeggings instead, as they can easily be paired with all sorts of outfits, from casual to semi-formal wear.
↓ 17 – Mom Jeans, Ever Favourite
You can always find the right pair of jeans that complement your age and figure. You can choose a style depending on your personality and preference.
With ankle zip jeans and white tunics, you can have a great weekend.
↓ 16 – Choose Smart, Minimalist Accessories
If it’s summer and you have to go out in the sun all day, then black and khaki is the best option with a fedora hat.
via
↓ 15 – Choose Tunics That Go Perfectly With Your Shape
There are several tunics tops that work best with your body shape. You can wear it with different leggings and stretched jeans.
They go best to hide the belly that women mostly complain about at our age. Don’t go for overwhelmingly baggy ones, but slightly A-line ones that look great.
They are very comfortable and make the best summer outfits.
↓ 14 – Choose Longer Cardigans Over Shorter Ones
The longer cardigans work best with leggings and jeans because they cover much of the lower torso area. A longer cardigan looks amazing and modest with straight-leg jeans or tights.
↓ 13 – Don’t Stop Opting For Classic Looks
In your 60s, you can choose classic elegant styles that work for any age. You will look more stylish and decent if you try on technical dressing rather than going for the trends of your favorite magazine.
This is the magic key to mastering fashion for ladies over 60. So be classy and conservative; definitely, you will exude a class.
↓ 12 – Follow The Icons of Style
We can see the fashion icons who are dominating the media even at this age with their impeccable style. Helen Mirren always looks beautiful and fashionable in her well-fitted outfits.
Christie is an iconic style of a generation and still looks fashionable and beautiful at the age of 61. So, enjoy watching the stars and adopt their outfits.
Helen Mirren, Catherine Deneuve, and Sophia Loren have been named among the most beautiful women in the world.
↓ 11 – You’re Never Too Old For Tomboy Chic
Trends come and go, but true style is ageless.
↓ 10 – Let Your Denim Grow Old With You
A nice pair of denim jeans, straight leg or wide-leg jeans, denim skirts, and jackets look wonderful on mature women.
Try to find a perfect pair; it will be comfy as well as good-looking; you can go for stretchable or soft denim.
↓ 9 – Invest In A Good Quality Trench Coat
You can adore a trench coat with a variety of different scarves.
↓ 8 – White on White Always Works
If you love monochromatic dressing, then you don’t have to worry about matching items.
A white dress is a key piece for stylish wardrobes. It makes you feel and look so confident.
↓ 7 – Allow Color Harmonies
Your hair color, skin tone, eye colors, and body structure suggest the color patterns and harmonies for an ideal look.
A subtle bright summer coloring can be classic, whereas the voluptuous autumn type is sometimes natural and romantic.
↓ 6 – It Might Be Time For A New Hairstyle
Yes, some colors can suggest the vibe of the holidays.
For those who celebrate Christmas, it’s easy to adore red or green pieces. Metallics always go right when you are getting ready to celebrate a special occasion.
↓ 5 – There’s No Such Thing As Too Many Scarves
Many women have scarves in their accessories drawer but don’t often consider wearing them. This is a little motivation for you all to try them out today.
↓ 4 – Kimonos Can Be The Modest Coverups You’re Looking For
Kimono Jackets are the best option for ladies who want a modest and elegant look. Most of them are available in bright colors and vibrant prints.
They are just like beautiful scarves with armholes.
↓ 3 – Wear Skirts For A Balanced Silhouette
At this stage of age, an A-line skirt can also be a good option.
A skirt below or at the knee balances your figure and looks modest while sitting or walking.
Of course, not all of us can pull off pencil skirts at this age. But if you still want to wear one, I highly recommend a pleated skirt.
Pleated skirts look incredibly beautiful and decent for our age, and they can easily be layered for extra comfort.
↓ 2 – Your Smile Is The Prettiest Thing You’ll Wear
Everybody loves an event, but choosing what to wear when you are 60 is quite different when you are in your 20 and get invited every month; the best advice is to ignore what’s trending and choose a style and shape you like that flatters you and feels worthy of your time.
When you wear an outfit confidently and with a smile, you’ll surely look the best.
↓ 1 – Good Nightsuits Are The Key To A Good Day
Transform your bedtime mood with decent and comfortable nightwear. Choose perfect combos, soft fabric, captivating designs, elegant and simple.
This is important because when you have a good night’s sleep, you’re surely going to wake up to a lovely day.
I also recommend having a good skincare routine that must include a night cream, day cream, and sunscreen.
FAQs
Q. How should i dress in my late 60s?
A. Hey, you can dress however you like no matter your age. You can still wear dresses and skirts and pants. However, you will need to be a bit more cautious and make sure that the clothes you wear are comfortable.
You should not compromise on comfort because if an outfit is uncomfortable, chances are you might have to throw it away. Dress like you’re 21. Dress like you’re 17. Forget how old you are and wear every color you like!
Q. Should a 60 year old woman wear skinny jeans?
A. In some cases, skinny jeans could be a bit uncomfortable to the blood flow in our age group, but I don’t see why we shouldn’t rock a pair of sexy skinny jeans every now and then.
Everybody should be allowed to wear what they want, no matter their age. You could wear them for a while, if not the entire day, but yes, definitely go for them!
Q. What should be the basic wardrobe for a 60 year old woman?
A. First things first, a 60-year-old should have the most seamless and comfortable undergarments. Secondly, you will need to invest in some good jeans, that will keep you comfortable and looking good.
You will also need some classic black dresses, jumpsuits, and blazers. Printed scarfs will be your best friend on a boring outfit day!
Don’t forget some fun t-shirts, tops, and cardigans. Last but not least, the most important thing will be your footwear. you will need to invest in the best and most comfortable joggers, house slippers, and formal shoes.
Comfort should be your number one priority because yes you need to look good but also stay healthy and restful.

All of these outfits are the same clothes being worn by people in their twenties, thirties, forties etc. What happened to setting a classic tailored style and avoiding looking like mutton done up like lamb?
Why does Older mean a ‘classic tailored style’ …? I LIKE the looks shown above..just wish I knew where some of the shopping was done.
Hi Ruth look at the following stores: JJill, Coldwater Creek, Garnet and go from there. Sometimes pricey but decent sales. Eileen Fisher is more high end but similar styles.
Times have changed. These are stylish women. Looking great!
Wrong Judith, if you really look at these pictures you’ll see real women of varying ages and not one is 20. I follow these women’s blogs and all are over 50. Proving you too can be stylish. Go for it girl!

Almost no older women will be wearing those high heels you show. They don’t care to suffer for fashion.
I was thinking the same thing. Looks great but I can’t walk a mile in those shoes; much less 10 ft.
I can put together an appropriate outfit for any occasion in minutes. Finding comfortable shoes is another story. I just can’t walk in those high heels anymore.
I wear my doc martens, no heel and they look great with leggings or skinny jeans. I am 64 and the way I see it, wear what makes you feel good about yourself. Or whatever is comfortable for you. 🙂
To the point ! Thank you!
At the first of the blog read under What To Wear In Your Sixties? The second line of the summary is somewhat offensive about plus size women hiding their fats. To be honest, I found that a real turn off and it made me not want to read any further. Maybe you could ask a plus-size woman to help with wording that better.
Just saying…..
Thank you for pointing that out. We’ve asked the writer to fix this as it is definitely not acceptable.
Kind Regards,
Team OutfitTrends.
Reality is reality. I’m a plus size and I would like to know what would look great on me. I’m not offended by the truth. The subject is what counts. Thank you for your ideas in style.
Thank you Lorraine for your support and kind words, they mean a lot 🙂

Honestly?? At this age 99% have extra in areas we never had before and need things clearly stated! We all must learn to be comfortable in our own skin and be grateful to others to share their gifts of fashion sense
Too true. Those days are over.
exactly my conclusion. I would fall and break another bone or worse Those high heels are not safe or comfortable at my age or even younger .
Remember the women in these pictures are not walking, but just standing there looking great! It’s possible that they can’t walk very far in them either!
MY THOUGHTS exactly! I don’t know any women over 60 running around in spike heels or those other shoes. Other than the improbability of the shoes, all the fashions were great!
I do and love them
I was thinking the same thing
I agree.
Totally disagree. I am 70 and still like a sexy heel when I dress up. Of course a high wedge is most comfortable when wearing slim pants or jeans. Don’t assume age means frumpy.
I am almost 66. i wear really high heels with no problem. but beware…it can be treacherous on a dance floor if the bottoms are slippery!
I agree with you! There’s no way I would ever wear most of the shoes pictured. And I find “pairing” outfits with shoes to be difficult, so I’d like to see pictures of outfits with more age-practical shoes. My reality is that I’m I’m upper sixties, have had one knee surgery, my toes aren’t very pretty anymore, and my balance isn’t what it used to be, so I have to be careful where footwear is concerned.
So true!
Unfortunately, my knees won’t allow heels. I was looking at some of those heel-wearing women with envy. Alas, I will stick to my Wolky “Jewel’s” and other knee/foot-friendly shoes.
Everyone has their own likes, dislikes and taste – we’re sorry we couldn’t cater to yours.

I agree to the “no heels” situatiion! Between my back, trigeminal neuralgia, surgeries to release my Achilles tendons and several stress fractures in my feet – no more heels of any kind for me! My panic was real when thinking about shoes to wear with my formal ‘Mother of the Groom’ dress. I found a lovely satin flat and found embellishments that made them the talk of the wedding party. I’ve never been coordinated enough to wear stiletto heels so now I have a good excuse not to even try!! It is lovely to have arrived at the age no more need to “suffer for fashion”!

Where are the women of colour???????
Oh Brother
Why would you say this?
Oh Brother
I guess “woman of color” over 60 look great in anything they ware. The smart, hard-working ones I’ve seen sure do. I should be so lucky. I am alive, inside a pale, washed out, a tired looking mess of flesh draped on bones with no muscles left. I used them up working mid-nights taking care of your grandmothers and fathers. 40 years oh need I mention, raising a family, that thankless ordeal. For the first time since I can’t remember I have to start looking and dressing the part. I am very scared. The good woman of color looks good. I am not of color. I happen to be the color of lightest, light sand with more gray than brown hair. I like these styles. Not all of them. The shoes!! There is not an old lady, on the face of this earth, that should show her toes, please! Your feet are ugly. Everybody’s feet over the age of 60 are ugly, get over it. Ware nice safer shoes.
I have great feet that I take care of and will wear open toe shoes and sandals as long as I like like nobody tells me what and when to wear thank you
My sentiments exactly.
Well said, whatever YOU’RE happy with is what matters
Speak for yourself..I am over 65 and have decent feet
Me too. I’m 78 and have lovely feet. I would not wear any of the clothes or shoes. Makes any lovely woman look old and worn out .
I gave ugly toes but I don’t care I wear what I want I earned it but no heals
I AM 81 AND STILL HAVE GOOD FEET. LOVE MEDIUM HIGH WEDGE SANDALS, SKINNY JEANS, SHORT BLAZERS SHOUT JACKETS RED LIPSTICK PIXIE HAIRCUT MASCARA,ETC ETC. I DO NOT LOOK LIKE MUTTON DRESSED UP AS LAMB.
I am 68 and I think I still have pretty toes and feet. I’m sure many older people have lovely feet and should show them off. Heels though? No more of that for me.
I still have pretty feet at 62.
So negative
Feet look like feet, no matter what age. A lovely bright toe nail polish does wonders!
Totally agreed,
Best regards,

I have seen other sites that have gorgeous pictures of women of color over 60. This site appears to be for rich white people. By the way, I am white.
Thanks for your feedback. We’ll try to update the article while keeping this in mind to make it more inclusive for all.
I like the clothes…not the shoes. I have never worn heels, and at age 66, I am not about to start. I wondered where the women of color, particularly darker skinned women were, too.
I see many sites with beautiful women of color where there isn’t a white woman to be seen.
We are all just women trying to do our best while looking our best and nothing more.
Well said.
A few 26, 24, 21.
We’re glad you liked these outfits. 24 is my favorite too 🙂

Sleepwear. Decent and respectable? Who wants to wear that ugly outfit to bed? At any age!
Decent and respectful doesn’t necessarily mean ugly.
Everyone has their own choices, likes and dislikes 🙂

Kimono jackets is the best option for those Old ladies?? Haha! This old lady will wear whatever the hell she likes no matter what anyone thinks!
Hell yes!!! Wear it, flaunt it, Rock it, and enjoy every bit of it. Woo hoo!
After 50 we have paid our dues and don’t have to care what anyone thinks about our style. Own it, whatever it is. But…I still like to mix it up and throw a shock into myself and others around me. hahaha!
We’ve asked the writer to fix this mistake, it was surely insensitive and I apologize on her behalf.

Hey, Mary! You go, girl!! TOO old to care WHAT ANYONE thinks! So long as I look fab, and feel fab, thank you very much!
The best fashion advice for women of any age is: FIT. Get the fit right and you can go trendy/classic/tie dye, and you will look fabulous.
Honest.
Hey Alice, I can’t agree more, thanks ..:)

Where are the plus size women??! You have left out a large percentage of the population. Follow? I don’t think so.
To all women all colors all sizes wear what ever makes you feel good!!
Sorry to have disappointed you. We have asked the writer to update the article as per your comments.

You mean fat women. Wouldn’t want to encourage that. It’s a pity that a large percentage of the population eats more than they need. It looks really unattractive and is unhealthy too.
From Jan.
Lovely casual outfits…..by the way , we older women can’t and don’t wear high heels anymore….
Speak for yourself- I can and do!
I do! My high heels are part of me. Granted, I can’t stand on my feet for 12+hours, but I will continue wearing them until I fall and break an ankle.
Couldn’t agree more about the tall shoes— shoes should not have to be stilts to look good. I say, if you feel good, most likely, you look good! Comfort with style is where it’s at….be who you are…..we’ve earned it at this point in life. Wear colors that you love—light in your eyes and a joyful, curious spirit are your real beauty— fun clothes, the icing on your own beautiful cake!

The translation of a lot of this text doesn’t make much sense. I have also seen some of these photos on other women’s blogs…pictures of them modeling their clothes, which is why there is no info on where to buy these items. I’m wondering why I read these blogs. Everyone’s style is individual and we don’t have to put ourselves into an age box and dress like soldiers.
Shoes shoes Please show examples of outfits with shoes appropriate to our age. I love those high heels but be realistic- not very many 65 plus women can wear them. That is why I want someone to show me an outfit that shows a great look with shoes that I can wear
I agree with most of you, but I “saved” a few of these outfits because I love them and they would look good on me. I just read these for the ideas! I wholeheartedly agree with those of you who said they don’t wear “high heels” anymore! I have some foot issues and just cannot wear heels higher than 2″. Thank goodness I live in Florida and can wear sandals most of the time!

I do t care if you think my feet are ugly. I get a monthly pedicure and damn it, I wear sandals 10 months out of the year. I may be older but I’m not dead.
That’s the right attitude Carol 🙂

These styles are very flattering and suit all sizes of women, choose whatever pieces out of the collections that you prefer, that includes shoes. Wear flats and still look stylish.. There are many stores that show these options, like Chico’s, Nordstrom The Bay etc. You have to do the work yourself, they are not going to jump out at you in outfits. So many negative comments. Come on girls strut your stuff and have fun.

IS THERE ANY PLACE TO SHOP WHERE THE SALES PEOPLE ARE TRAINED TO OUTFIT A CUSTOMER ACCORDING TO THEIR AGE AND BODYTYPE?
It’s really hard to find such places Marion. If you know of any, do share with us 🙂

Love all the styles . Not sure about the shoes.
Some of these styles are so pretty. I do wish they made more for petite xl or maybe 1x as long as the tops aren’t extremely long. I need some to go with my leggings. Also, not sure where to find nice shoes that don’t hurt my feet but do look feminine. I haven’t been able to wear heels in years. But I’m petite so I don’t like flats either.

I’m over the high hills but that’s my personal choice as is what I ware I will not be told
What to do or say or ware by anyone life is getting shorter the older I get the more free I will become I will be all I can while I am still able
61 and dont look like it! Will not wear frumpy clothes. Love sandals and will wear them forever. The extremely long cardigan….really? I’m 5 2 and would trip over it at 61 or 21
Hi Charliece,
The article never suggested that anyone needs to wear frumpy clothes 🙂 As for cardigan lengths, everyone is free to choose what length they feel comfortable with, these are just some ideas.

I love the outfits. I am sixty and I think the clothing look fabulous and so do the models. However, I would make a few adjustments., such as a lower heel or even a different shoe. All of the styles may not be for everyone, but I will certainly try a few of the looks. I absolutely love denim and long sweaters.
Thank you Patricia,
You’ve shared some really good tips.

I am looking for suggestions on what to wear with a dress instead of the dreaded old fashion nylons. I don’t want to always wear leggings but after being on my feet for 50 years, my legs are not what they used to be.
How about cotton tights?
Best regards,

Higher heeled shoes are bad for a person’s spine. They can also contribute to arthritis of the joints of the toes, especially the big toes. At my age, keeping my health so I am able to better keep my health is so much more important than wearing a trendy heel. I would rather be able to walk in my shoes. There are many good looking shoes that won’t hurt you.
Thank you for your feedback, keep visiting.

I’m 58 and if I have to look like this in 2 short years I’m jumping ! The heels were the only redeeming factor ! Yikes !
I find this subject matter and recommendations somewhat insulting. The assumption being than women over 60 have somehow lost appeal, that they all have a belly problem, and that they somehow should be hiding behind their clothes. At every age one should dress respectfully and tastefully and classic. Wear whatever you want, as long as you feel good in it. Don’t think you have to impress other people, especially men, but present your best to the world.
I am 60, I have no belly, wear leggings, and have long hair. And am generally believed to be early 40s. I do nothing special. No creams, no diets, no Botox. Every age is great.
Sorry to have disappointed you. We have asked the writer to update the article as per your comments.

I was thrilled to see comments suggesting that a pictured top would especially look good on someone wanting a style that is slimming or brings attention away from the ‘belly’ area. I have a belly.. all gut, no butt. I appreciated the suggestions. It’s a given that those who don’t have a problem with their gut size can wear any of the tops, if your taken as a 40 yr old why are you looking for clothing for 60 yr old. Flat stomach your not restricted, flabby you are (should be anyway).. but these days it appears that emphasizing one’s ‘rolls’ with tight t-shirt or letting it all hang out with a crop top, is in. Not me, I’ll hide it however I can, it makes me feel better.
Can’t understand some of the ‘English’. Hate the shoes….grew up in an era when ‘f me’ shoes were laughed at, and still agree. Dress for yourself and don’t read these ridiculous blogs. I won’t in future.
Good for you 🙂

HA! well girls anyone have some good ideas for someone that’s going to be 80 this coming year and that’s 4’11” 165lbs built like a lemon wares 3 1/2 shoes fights with her weight every day. loves her kids, grand children and great grandchildren and still tries to look her best. unable to find cloths to fit and shoes only young children can ware. cloths in my weight size are to big and to long, if I go by my height its to small . shoes how about pink bows you get the idea. So ware what you want and smile.
Shop in the Junior Section. According to your weight, try size
15 sometimes 17. Tops /try the poncho style tops which
Should camouflage the lemon shape. Wear printed tops.
Boxy sweaters. Buy your shoes at Nordstrom or Neimus their
Children shoe department should have some nice style shoes and booties.

Where are the plus sizes…sorry but I am no longer thin, I am eighty and like looking sharp even just around the house. Who knows when someone might come visit. I would love to wear the leggings and pencil skirts, but not to be anymore.
Thank you for the feedback. We’ll try to update the article and include what you’re looking for.
Many of these outfits don’t take into consideration that a tummy may have grown a bit as we age.
I think most of these outfits would look great both with and without a tummy 🙂 It’s all about how you carry it.

There are no women of color who are over sixty.
I wanted some ideas and got some great ones. I am always on the go and have never been one for heels but that doesn’t bother me. I do need to upgrade from my sneakers but if I go to Clark’s or the Walking Store that will have options, I just don’t want to spend the money. That’s my bad. Thank you so much for putting this together. I really feel like I have some good options and that if I make a little more effort, I’ll have a better result.
Jodie, I enjoyed this post, no matter what others say. I follow some of these other bloggers. I probably read 10 or 12 fashion blogs a day and ignore what I don’t like or wear. Some things do not fit my shape or coloring and I ignore that, but take the tips that I can apply to me. I am heavier then I should be and my blond hair is turning gray , I have wrinkles, but I try to look the best I can! I must not do too bad as I get lots of compliments and people do not believe when I tell them my age. They usually think I am about 10 years younger then I am. It feels right. There are some things I don’t wear and never have because they do not look good on me! Short shorts are an example. I have heavy legs and they are dimpled and have been my entire life. Even back in the early 70’s when “hotpants” were stylish and I was early 20’s I did not wear them because my legs looked bigger in them! I only had to look in the mirror to figure this out! Like so many have said earlier, if you feel good wearing it, go for it!

Petite women who are slender but athletic would be nice as well. Simple everyday casual outfits 🙂

I just love looking at clothing, fashion and accessories on women of any age or color. I just turned sixty-eight, and would enjoy wearing many of the styles featured. I think there was some good advice here for us older women, but I don’t follow all of it. Please continue to share this type of blog!

Hello Ladies!
I am 61 and have loved clothes and fashion since I was a very little girl. Here’s what I’ve learned as I’ve aged.
For some height from shoes: platforms are my best friend. If I need a heel, I go with a kitten heel. I have also used black, t strap dance shoes for a heel and comfort, if I do need a higher heel.
For color: pure colors work best with my Italian coloring. White, not cream. navy blue or royal blue, not powder blue. Purple or eggplant, not lavendar. You get the picture.
Hair: the one thing NOT to skimp on. Get a great cut. If you can afford a salon color, do it. If not, ask a friend to do it for you in your kitchen. A girlfriend will see places you can’t. Always comes out better.
Jewelry and great makeup always matter. Invest in a true makeup consultation. Pay the money, buy the products with the best care for your skin. Nothing fussy, just well made. A moisturizer, foundation, eye pencil, and top lipstick are really all you’ll need. (Going to a wedding, yes I’ll use mascara and a few other tricks.) Revisit the makeup person every 3-4 years for updates. Your skin changes as do the products and tints..
Finally, here’s something that is always free: great posture. It really does matter, as my mother used to tell me and I would not listen! Shoulders back. Slight pelvic tilt. Neck and head straight, chin slightly up. Do that with a manicure and people will think you are beautiful — because you ARE.
I’m 59 but ready the clothes everything i’m the stay home housewife now my wife still works and she loves being the man now.My daughter has really got on board and helps me in my new role says ill suit number 8 hairstyle and the outfit going with her to her hair stylist on the weekend Jen my hubby can’t wait to Ser the new me hope she can’t take her hands of her sexy housewife.

I am 61 and find the majority of the styles pictured are old looking and frumpy. I dress goth/emo/steampunk. Goth makeup can be tweaked into a softer look for mature skin. If I see or read leopard print again for the 60’s and above I will barf!!!
We’re sorry that you felt this way. We’ll try updating the article according to your feedback.

Sorry you felt that way, it’s hard to bring something that suits everyone’s taste and preferences. We’ll try our best not to disappoint you again 🙂

Those of us with stomachs + haunches ( and there’s a high percentage) do NOT look good in belts. A pet hate of of mine is the declaration on many websites that crossover dresses flatter everyshape NO THEY DONT. Not if you got big boobs AND a stomach – the models look good but I agree that most women of vintage years – not all – but MOST can’t totter round in heels anymore. The collagen under your feet lessens with age so you effectively feel like you are walking on ya bones!
Thank you for your feedback.

Most of these pictures show more low heels than high heels also does our skin colour really matter we all wear what suits our bodies and skin colours.
Your all crazy
I love your ideas; the animal prints are so fun. I wear four-inch heels everyday, but I’m lucky with my strong feet and legs at age 63. Keep up the great work!
Thank you for your kind words,

I couldn’t believe you referred to all women as “ladies.” If you browse through all comments, you will notice women almost always use “women” to describe themselves or women in general. A few women also refer to themselves as “girls.” At least you didn’t use that dated term to describe us older women. You make some interesting fashion suggestions, but we date & diminish ourselves with the language we use. And others of all ages notice.
I realize that many women of color, especially black women, often use “girl”
to talk to, and describe, each other. That’s great when it’s part of a culture. I think that should be respected.
Hi Doris,
The use of certain words varies from one country to another and sometimes even within a single country. In many countries/cultures, the term ‘ladies’ is just a synonym for women and it has nothing to do with age.

I can’t believe how many ‘race police’ on here counting how many ppl of this or that color, and thinking it’s their duty to decide what the appropriate ratio of each is… your racist.
And thank you for some new styling ideas I can/should be looking for!
